Recycle 2 Support FAQs
Will my school have to sell anything in order to raise funds in this program?
No. Our recycling program requires no work from your school. See details at Dallas Nonprofit Fundraising.
Why is textile recycling so important?
The U.S. EPA estimates that close to 11 million tons of textiles end up in the trash every year. Recycle 2 Support works tirelessly to educate our community about the importance of recycling. Currently, about 85% of the textiles that are discarded end up in a landfill. Together, we can change that!
Will the bins be properly maintained to avoid overflow?
We are committed to your total satisfaction: Keeping your collection bins clean is our top priority. Our trucks service every collection bin on a weekly schedule (or more frequently as needed). We have over 15 trucks on our fleet, making collections 6 days a week. We are also a proud member of SmartBin, and we use their monitoring technology; which was specifically designed for the recycling industry to always know the fill-level of our bins, therefore avoiding overflow.
What are the benefits for my school in participating in Recycle 2 Support’s textile fundraiser?
Our primary goal is to raise awareness for the importance of textile recycling by educating our community about the impact that wasted textile has on the environment. The participating schools will also earn eight cents per pound of textiles collected. It’s a win-win! See details at Dallas Nonprofit Fundraising.
What happens to the items that are donated?
The items go where they are needed the most. We ensures that every item donated is used and that almost nothing is wasted.
• 45% is usable “as is” in the growing second-hand clothing market
• 20% is recycled for upholstery and automotive stuffing
• 30% is recycled for industry wiping rags
How is Recycle 2 Support helping to reduce unnecessary textile waste?
Each week, we divert over 400,000 pounds of shoes and other textiles from local landfills. Every day we collect unwanted clothing and shoes, reduce waste, and help prevent harmful greenhouse gases from entering our atmosphere.
What’s more, we believe that raising awareness is the key to making a lasting change.
